Dear Folks:

I would like to use this thread as a place to talk about multimedia, to ask Aaron questions, to voice issues, and most of all, to post any multimedia bits (links to, pls) you guys do during your internships. We are so lucky to have Aaron with us in this merry little Chipster band—I want to give him this special place to address people’s concerns and to give all of us advice as needed!

MULTIMEDIA ROCKS!

Hey

I’m interested in creating my own blog, but I’ve never really tried to make a legit one myself. I was wondering if you have any guidance in terms of designing a nice one and also where to find a host and such.

Good sites for blogging: Blogger.com (easy if you have a Gmail account), WordPress.com, and TypePad.com

As for design, that’s a little more complicated. How familiar are you with HTML? If you are not great with code, I’d suggest playing around with the design templates that those three sites have.

Let me know if that helps.

Jose—areyou talking about a personal blog, or a Chips blog? A couple of Chipsters in our group are doing a blog for their web requirement… are sending content to me and Michelle and Michelle posting on Chips Site....)

If personal, then thanks to Aaron (my Bamma Teaching Bud… we are knee deep in it!) for guiding you ... just try it… and ask Uncle Aaron for guidance. He is the Master of MultiMedia… cool smile

Anyone else doing an multimedia stuff yet? Be sure to post here when you do....

I was talking about creating a personal blog and thanks for the response Aaron I’ll take a look at those. I’m not familiar with html at all, but its something I’d like to eventually learn. Should i delve into that a little bit when it comes to creating a blog?

Only if you are trying to put custom graphics or drastically change the layout of your blog--should you delve into HTML. It wouldn’t hurt to learn a few basics.

Now, Aaron, I would like to be a better photographer.

What do you suggest I do?

Now, Aaron, I would like to be a better photographer.

What do you suggest I do?

Shoot more. Shoot often. Use a digital SLR. Think about lighting. Thinking about composition (lines, layering, etc.). Think about variety: portraits, detail shots, overall shots, etc. Look at other photographers and their work. What do you think looks good? Find out and try to duplicate it. Or, better yet, try to put a new spin on it. Buy books on photography...academic ones. Picture books can be really expensive. But then again, so can academic photo books.

Hope that helps.
